I needed a new side table for the living room so I built this one using white oak for the stiles and rails for the door and side panels and the drawer front. The top is from church pews I bought a few years back, I believe it to be glued up white oak. The pews came out of the church my Mom went to as a kid and also went to school there, My Mom and Dad were married there and I was baptized there, lots of family history. I also made a kitchen table for my Mom out of the same material a few years ago. The drawer sides are from a dead poplar tree that I cut down in my yard. The frame and panel construction are mortised and tenoned by hand and the drawer is half bllind dovetailed, also by hand. I used a couple of coats of shellac and then put 3 coats of lacquer on. Now I have to make a TV stand in the same style

Nice table. Good reuse of the church pew, too!! They put good wood in those pews!!
