This is a hickory box with walnut corner trim, the lid is lace wood and walnut. I’ve never really tried my hand at decorative boxes but after seeing some of the beautiful work being done by LJ members I was inspired to give it a go. One lesson learned was my TS fence was not parallel to the blade, I’ve since fixed that problem but not before I kinda messed up the lid seperation cut. Oh well, next time will be better.

Nice box. I really like the top. Be careful, box making can hook ya pretty easy. It don’t take much lumber and the possibilities are endless.

Nice Job, Dave!! Like Russel said, it’s pretty easy to get hooked on making them… For myself, I don’t think I’ll rest until I’ve turned every scrap into a box…

put some velvet on the bottom. and call it done. Nice design effort. I like that it’s subtle accents and not too Bling Bling. I love finished hickory, especially in cabinets, Just looks more natural and thats why we work wood, Cuz it’s natural.

Is this your first try? Nicely done.
