Both of these little bowls are about 6” in diameter and stand about 2” high. The first one is a mixture of Monterillo and Curupay with a Canarywood base. The second has a Curupay base and a body of Monterillo with Bloodwood accent strips. Finish is Tung Oil.

I’m guessing that we are looking at end grain when we look at the second picture. How close am I?

Both of the bowls are made from boards compound mitered and glued up so the grain in all is face-grain. The grain of the Monterillo is very tight and varies in color so it might look like end grain, but it’s not. I did put an earlier bowl on the site which was end-grain and book-matched Zebra in the feature ring, but not these two.

Fantastic turnings. Have one on the lathe now that I am working on(purpleheart and maple)
Hope it turns out even half as good as these.
Keep it up.
