Bought a 6” x 12” foam block from rockler.com thats pre drilled for both 1/2” & 1/4” bit storage. It held the bits nicely but needs a box (doesn’t everything need a box?). I made this one from a piece of 1/2” ply kicking around the shop.

I boxed the base with basic butt joints & Elmer’s. The top is a ‘slip over’ design just 1/8” larger (1/16” per side) than the base and gives a ‘piston’ fit. The foam holds itself in the box and all the bits securely even if inverted & shaken.

Works fine, should last a long time, lol.

Very good way to store the bits…

Some time back, I had router bits here, there, & everywhere in various boxes, etc.

Finally, I made a small cabinet for them…
It has four Pull-Out shelves where the bits are placed in Holes, etc…
Shelves vary in height for the Bit Lengths…
The shelves slide out from the Left side…

Here is the cabinet that I made... Under the Plane storage unit… It sure made a huge difference!
... looking back, I should have made one or two more shelves for expansion! :)
