Lenga wallet / card holder

I’ve finished this project like three years ago and always forget to load it, so here it is.

I was tired of having my cards bent and broken, so I made a card holder in Lenga wood.

I’ve ripped a piece of 1×4 in half, made a recess in both sides using the rouuter (the first project where I used a router), and then glued the two parts together again.

As usual, a lot of sanding for shaping and hiding mistakes.

The finish is shellac applied with a doll… not exactly french polished, but something like that (a lazy version of french polishing).

Then added a strip with a magnet inside the folds, and glued another magnet in the box. Not a good idea, after a couple of months some cards got erased, so I had to change it for those push buttons, I don’t know the name in spanish, let alone in english, haha.

It’s been used almost everyday for the last years and it’s great.

Of course many relatives and friends asked me to make some for them, but I haven’t yet. I guess I should try to make a couple of fixtures for ripping and routing the boxes, and that would make great gifts.

Cheers.

A neat practical solution for a problem we all have with cards.

Great idea, that would get them out of my wallet. Good job.

Nice job! I like it. Over here, what you used to hold it closed is simply called a ‘snap’. Thanks for sharing.
