Wood Mallet

I had some red oak scrap, some poplar, and a bit of purple heart so I put together this mallet. I have never used a mallet before, and am told that laminated mallets won’t hold up, so I guess I will see. Just wiped a bit of tung oil on it. I suppose I will see if it works.

Looks good, as far as holding up time will tell.

If nothing else maybe it will be softer on my thumb than an unforgiving steel hammer. Yeah, I’m sure of it. LOL

I think it will be awhile before you need another one – looks great
I need to make one very soon – i use the side of a small hammer for my chiseling ha ha

If you used epoxy it will last forever. If you used wood glue it will not last forever but long enough.
