Segmented bowl from left over rings

I had some left over rings from other turning projects. I took this opportunity to try a new finishing process. After applying 10 coats of polyurethane and wet sanding to 1200 grit, I used automotive polishing compound. Then I applied automotive wax. I’ll use this type of finish for future turning projects.

Looks great. I was gonna ask why you didn’t finish the base, but I see it’s not part of the bowl !

Great work J, I have been practicing on my new Lathe, all spindle work thus far. I’m about to attempt my first bowl I hope one day they look like yours!

What a use for “left overs”. Has hard as I try I have trouble coming up with this beauty even with well thought out planed materials. I do save every ring that does not work in hopes of using it later. Nice job.
