The cedar is from a tree that I planted as a child over 40 years ago. It grew up and started damaging a building so it had to be taken down. The hammer head came in a box of junk from an auction with a badly damaged handle. The hammer head was mostly black from age and use so I had to clean it up with a grinding wheel and buffing wheel. I couldn’t turn the wood on a lathe since it has an obvious curve to it. I had to trim it down by hand. It’s finished with just a clear polyurethane.

Pretty cool cane.

Might come in pretty handy if you’re ever getting harassed ! :-)

Great Job! Nice to see someone else growing their own canes. Great idea for a handle – how did you attach it? Thanks for sharing.

The hammer head was attached like any other hammer head. The wood goes through the head held in place with a wedge.

Have your say...
