Grandson, Kaler, was visiting Grampa and Grandma for a few days, so we had to do a woodworking project. I suggested a birdhouse, and he thought perhaps and eagle or crow house would be perfect. After a little persuasion, we settled on a wren house….maybe a chickadee house…..smaller bird anyway.
Kaler helped with the design after looking at some examples on line and checking out my supply of suitable outdoor wood. We finally settled on this design, made of red cedar with a copper roof. The overall dimension are about nine inches tall and 5 inches wide. The hole is 7/8 inch…..appropriate for a wren. He decorated the exterior with paintings of birds, bugs, and a smiley heart.
Good fun with my best buddy…...

Some of the best and rewarding “shop” time you will ever spend. I bet he will always remember the time he and his Grandpa built that little birdhouse together. Well done, good looking young man there too. Great memories, so happy for you.

John, Grandpa projects are the best. I especially like Kaler’s decorations.

I am glad to see you and your Grandson spending time together in the shop John .
Nice to see Kayler taking an interest in wood working and not be stuck on the computer all day .
I can not think of a better way to spend time with Grandkids other then fishing maybe .

Happy Easter Klaus

That is one fine looking residence. I envy you my friend. I plan to bring a young lad into my shop to give him some positive experiences (at least I hope they’re positive), but having your own grandchild in there would be the best of all.
