This is a blanket chest for my granddaughter I want to stain the panels ( maple veneered ply) to closely match the red oak any suggestions wil be appreciated

Hey Walt, looking good. You may have better luck posting this in the Forum area. The Project area is really more for finished products, so you might miss quite a few potential responses.

Nice build first off, (disclaimer, I am a shellac fan) make a mix of trans tint dyes in shellac until you get a color you want. Use the tint sparingly to color the shellac. A little goes a long way. They have a color called red mahogany that might do the trick. Or you can tint dye the wood after a base coat of 1 # cut shellac and a light sanding(320) before tint goes on. Good luck.
