First furniture project

Well this is my first furniture piece. This is a dresser for my 17 month old son. The dresser was built using Birch Ply and poplar. I ended up painting the dresser after asking for advice in the forums and my very limited finishing abilities. I know this is nowhere near some of the work on this site, but I am really proud I was able to pull it off and my wife loves it. It’s not perfect but I did learn a lot especially how not to do things.

Hard to believe that this is your first piece, most are not able to do anything close to this on first try. Myself included,it was a mess.lol Keep up the good work.

Great job, I have been very utilitarian projects for years, but nothing this good. I have yet to make my first “hobbyist project”, working on the shop right now.

Thanks for your comments. I have done other project before such as shop jigs and an outdoor picnic table but never furniture. My wife kinda gave me a push when she questioned whether I really needed a table saw, router, miter saw, etc to build a picnic table. LOL….
