I made this ribbon box for my wife as an anniversary gift. This is the first box I’ve made and learned a lot from it. It is far from perfect but my wife loves it and that is all that matters. Now she wants to fill it up! The box is 3/4 curly maple with purple heart and maple ribbons. It measures 11×8x5.5 with the ribbons all the way around. Thanks to mharper90 for his guidance and detailed instructions. I used Lenny’s post as well to help me along the way.

Joe this is a fine piece of work. You really did a great job on it.

If there are flaws you hid them very well, great job on a very nice box.

Joe, nice work here. I especially like the ribbon, it looks very realistic and is a work of art. You have made a nice choice of woods. The Purpleheart really makes the whole project pop. The lid seems a little heavy, does it tend to pull the box backward when it is open? This is a wonderful anniversary gift, and I wish the two of you many happy returns of the day. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Big Al, the pictures are a little deceiving. The lid is heavy but the weight of the box holds the lid up perfectly.
