This is a fun project that dates back a long time. I built it in my dad’s shop. I was in high school at the time, and only had a table saw and a router table and some basic tools. I got a pretty specific request from my aunt and uncle who wanted a computer center that they had seen in a magazine. They also added in their wants to the design.
The pictures pretty much tell all. The fun parts:
1) The doors that open and slide back into the cabinet carcass.
2) The double-sliding keyboard tray. Keyboard can be on the lower slide out, and books or papers on the upper one. Both can slide back in and out of the way
3) double folding lower doors
4) I built it then sold it to them and did NOT have to apply stain/sealer/finish!!
All in all, I think the design is fantastic, and for anyone that has tight space (or children that like to get into things), a no-brainer.
Made from oak hardwood and oak plywood.
