This is a stock rack I built for holding metal round, although it will work equally well for dowels etc. It is based off of the plans in the book “Uncle” Dave Gingery’s Shop Notebook

Overall this was a simple project to complete and uses only 1×6 lumber. The most difficult part was shaping the handle. I actually broke one of the handles off when I tried to shape the outside after cutting the inside (in retrospect this was silly to attempt). The blade grabbed, and pop went the handle.

I have made two of these so far, and the two pictures are actually different units. The empty one I made for my dad, and the full one is sitting in my shop.

When I say the first pic my first thought was a pool cue rack. Looks good.
