Built this modified Barrister’s Bookcase for SWMBO. Tried to match the grain on the face frame and doors (so the grain appeared continuous from the doors to the frame). Did ok, but got distracted during assembly. Hinge assembly made from brass rod and used brass washers as spacers to try to keep the doors running bind-free. I knew they wouldn’t get used much so I didn’t purchase the mfr’d hinges.

As can be seen, the carcass is 3/4” ply trimmed out with 1/4-sawn white oak. Ceramic knobs.

That is my old shop – you may notice in the shot of the bookcase on its back that it pretty much consumed the whole shop.

New shop is in the basement of the new addition next to the old – at 12’ x 20’, it kicks the old 8’ x 12’ shop’s butt.

Plus all the new toys :-D

More of already completed projects to come.

Hi, Steve -

It’s about 5’ 6” tall, just under 3’ wide and about 18” deep. I ‘designed’ it myself, based on dimensional requirements from my wife. Each shelf is about 16” high. Was going to do separate cases, in the traditional style, but she said they would never be arranged in any other fashion than all stacked in a single column so I thought “Why bother?”
