This is a large bowl I turned from Box Elder. It’s like opening a present when cutting open the log, putting on the lathe and seeing what you got. I was pleasantly surprised with the character of this piece. It measures 10 1/2” in diameter and is 7 inches high, it weighs about 4 1/2lbs.

Wow…just purchased a lathe and seeing beautiful projects like this makes me glad we made the investment. Lot to learn before we will turn anything of this level but inspiring to see what can be done. Again wow.

That box elder is really one of the most beautiful woods. Your bowl looks awesome!

Nice colours in the wood and that’s a different shape for a bowl. Considering the nice job of turning I’m surprised you’ve only posted three.

Very beautiful piece of work. Where did you find such a nice, large piece of box elder?

RichCMD a cousin gave me several logs. He started spliting it for firewood and didn’t like the way it split or stacked, box elder is terrible for splitting and stacking, lucky for me. I have a few bowls drying and one more log left.

Never have ever seen a box elder tree, doesn’t grow here, so I can just enjoy the work of others, nice,
