I removed all the decking, saved what I could and replaced the rest. All of the treated undercarriage was in day one shape. A lot of the cedar was rotted but not on the surface. Set up for a foot to go right through it.
I decided to go with treated on the deck fascia because the cedar had rotted mighty bad there. I left it unfinished so in couple of years and a little power washing it will blend in.
The day I took these pictures I was out there to put the skirting on. Took the pictures first to beat the rain. Wired up over the old lattice (To stop the critters) then I put on the new.

Always a pleasure looking at your work Jack.
You work alone?
How long it take you to remove and finnish?
Just inquisitive.

Yo noto I usually have help but I was suppose to be done for the year and this came up. I’m going to be busy in the spring so I had to take care of it. They are one of my favorite customers and it was getting some real week areas.
I’ve had up to 7 guys working for me and sometimes just myself. It all depends on the kind of work. Mostly just me and a helper or two.

Way to breath some new life into an old friend! We use our deck rain or shine 365 and by the looks of yours there is no reason why you shouldn’t do the same.

How long did it take?
Well, I wanted to save the clips for they are getting pricey and not so easy to get. I also wanted to save what wood I could. I had to pry them up a little and then cut the nails with a saw-zall. Then I unscrewed the clips, got the nails out of the board, and ran them threw the planer. I bought new 18’ers and used the old ones for the rest. In hind sight I should of just bought all new wood but I like to save what I can.

great looking deck, looks like you live in a snow area, it’ll be a long time before spring. The bench seat portion is really a nice added touch. That’s nice thing about being a lumber jock, almost every peice of wood furniture we own is custom and one of a kind!
