This project was made a few s years back thought I would share it with LJ’s
Bubbly for Two
The glass holders are Jacaranda stained with spirit stain I mix myself.
The glass inserts are the flutes of two champagne flutes the bases ground off and cleaned up.
Base; Jacaranda. Natural colour only clear varnish [ Jacaranda mimosifolia ]
The glasses can be removed
Size Glasses + wood holder 270mm h +- 60mm at widest
Finish Catalyst base varnish sprayed on about 3-4 coats denibbed between coats
The holders were tuned close to the shape of the glass first only the flute section the stem later. I made a template of the glass out of a thick card. To get the profile of the glass I used 3mm solder and bent it to the shape of the glass out side. The template was then used to check the hollowed out part. After a good fit was achieved the out side and stem were finished and the flutes carved to a tulip form. The stems are 10mm dia.

Those are very nice, I love the idea and the lines of the tulip form. Great job!

Great idea.
I have a couple of flutes that the stems broke off years ago and I always thought I would turn a stem for them. Your deeper cup method would work just great.
