A friend of my Dad’s gave him a large slab of walnut some time back. Several months ago I took it and cut circles with my bandsaw. It made 2 – 11 by 4.5 inch circles and 2 – 5 by 4.5 circles. We took one of each. I made the smaller one for my Aunt during the summer. This one finished out at 10 1/4 by 4 inches. I finished with several coats of 1/3 shellac, 1/3 mineral spirits, 1/3 mineral oil mixed. I then waxed it with Renaisance wax.

Beautiful job! I really like the shape, did you sand between the coats of shellac?

I really like the shape, it has elegant, classic curves but not too overstated, a real nice balance. Good job in my humble opinion. BTKS

WOW! But I don’t understand, did the finish make it that much darker?
