I was asked by the officers of the USCGC Boutwell to build a Sextant display box. This is a gift for the Commanding Officer from the Wardroom upon the decommissioning of the ship this week. The box is made from Cherry wood, stained Red Mahogany and finished with clear lacquer. I finished it off by lining the bottom with black velvet.

That is a truly handsome piece! I’m sorry to see those ships all go away, they were great ships. At least they will have a future afloat and not as razor blades!

Beautiful sextant, and a beautiful box to stow it in! I’m sure Captain Westfall will really appreciate it!

Very nice, I was a Quartermaster in the Coast Guard, think I’m going to steal your idea.
