I used the miter gauge on the TS to cut a 60 degree angle for the piece that would slide under the door. The other back side is 30 degrees I believe. It was rough and had corners of course so I used one of those tiny planes to smooth off the edges. I ran some 220 grit all across it until I was happy with the round over areas and no sharp areas were present.

Oh! And I rubbed in some boiled linseed oil before bringing it in to my wife and announcing I’d cured her garage door woes. I was suprised how much she really liked it! You would have thought I’d just built her new cabinets. Lol, so sweet.

Anyhow, that was my very first of many projects!

Many a first project ended up as kindling, so I’d say you’re starting well. I love to look at and collect miniature tools. Would you post a picture of your ‘tiny plane’, please? Welcome to LumberJocks and thank you for your service! Thanks for sharing.

Nice work! Yours looks better than the one I made for my wife’s laundry room door!
You know there is no going back once you start making things out of wood.
Keep up the good work!

Welcome Cathie! I too am learning the art of woodworking. This is a great site for positive reinforcement, getting help with a project, and looking for inspiration in the work of others. Good job on your first project and I also want to thank you for your sacrifice.

Yes, I do love my doorstop! Crazy how much a little thing can eliminate frustration. Plus, I’m super proud of my wife and so happy about her new hobby/obsession. ;)

Here is the pic of the lil plane. :) the sole end to end is about 3 1/2 inches long and it stands a whole 1 3/4 tall at its tallest point. Once I sharpened the cutting blade it’s been very useful so far. I love little tools too. There’s a little 3 piece set I wasn’t to get from HF just because they are mini!!
