This is a trio of tables made from a single large slab of maple covered with burls. Required lots of work to make the table tops smooth with no (little) tearout. The center of the slab was around 28” in width but tapered off on each end. Bases are all made with FSC certified cherry. Finish is wiping varnish. one piece will go to the clients home and the other two will go to their two sons.

Rob, FSC (forest stewardship council) certified wood comes from sustainably managed forests. See http://www.fscus.org/ for more information.

I noticed on the third picture, there is a large crack in the wood tabletop. It appears you’ve inlaid some clips to hold it together. If that’s the case, what are the clips made of and how difficult was it to inlay them? I’m working on some sofa tables with the same kind of top, but made out of pine, that has some pretty significant cracks in them, as well. Your tables are beautiful, by the way. Good job.
