Here’s a cedar driveway gate that I designed and custom built for one of our customers in Atlanta. I started by custom welding a frame for the the driveway gate and one for the walk gate. Then infilled the frame with #2 cedar. Everything is fully automated, even the walk gate there to the right of the sliding drive gate. It’s all controlled with clickers and digital keypads.
The Problem
The property owners for this project were having trouble with performance of their existing driveway gate. The gate (seen in the images below) consisted of a poorly installed, dual swing chain link gate that was closed and locked by a chain and pad lock. The gate had to be manually opened for both drive and walk in access and the gate panels blocked road access when opened. Because the gate was poorly installed and falling apart, it was unsecured and had multiple spots that were open and allowed anyone to access to anyone. Because the location of this property is in an area in Atlanta that has a high volume people that constantly walk past, the owners were very concerned with the esthetics of the gate and the privacy it provided.
The Goal of this Project
For this project, my goal was to design a driveway gate that performed multiple functions. This gate needed to decrease visibility into the front yard, easily open and close in a tight space, provide a secured but easily accessible way to walk in and need to have a modern look that blended with surroundings but also contrasted the dark lumber of the home it provides access to.
The Outcome
After completion of this project, the new system decreased trespassing on the property by 100%, allowed quick and secure driveway access with the click of a button, allowed the owners to provide an access code to friends and family for both drive and walk-in access, it decreased visibility to the front yard by 100% and also highly increased privacy. Aside from the all the functions that this new system provide, the owners were most ecstatic and pleased by the new esthetic appeal that our design and craftsmanship provided.
What do you guys think about this gate? Personally, this is probably my favorite wood driveway gate that I have ever built.

Wow looks great. Amazing how much something like that changes the complete look compared to the falling down chainlink.
