I just finished this box for my dad for his birthday. He loves his sweettarts and smarties, so decided he needed a nice box for his desk to always keep full. The box is 8” x 10”. It is aromatic cedar, with the top and bottom being walnut. I really didn’t think a cedar lid would look right, and needed something to contrast.

Looks good, but all his candy is gonna taste like cedar! Yuck!
I like the sapwood inclusion tho. Maybe you could line the box with something to prevent the aromatic cedar from ruining the candy?

Yeah, I had wondered if the cedar aroma would seep through the candy wrappers.

I would go with a different wood.

Very nice box. Not sure I like the idea of a cedar candy box. Might have to use this for something else and make another from a different wood.
Great design. Like the contrasting lid. Keep it up.
