Johan, wonderful boxes I really like the splatted one. I do have a question though…How are they hinged? or are they hinged? I can’t tell by the pictures. Thanks for sharing they are truly beautiful.

Critterman these boxes are hinged with a 3mm pin made out of african blackwood;Iused to use brass pins but found that they start working loose after some time even when glued in place.Ive been using hardwood pins for some years now and have never had the same problem’thanks for the comments.

Stunning work & spectacular wood selection,you are extremely fortunate to be in the very birthplace of this quite wonderful resource(it’s also the wood from which I took my name,there may be many Dalbergia’s but Melanoxylon is by far the most beautiful…).

Ruben that is spalted ironwood but onlly the sapwood or outer layer do that when a fungus get into it
