Even though its a little extra work, preparing the end-grain book-matched segments is worth the visual effect, I think. Of course it helps to have a strong end-grain such as the Zebrawood used here.
The bowl is about 10.5” in diameter and stands about 4.5” tall. The base is Canarywood, then Australian Blackwood, the Zebrawood separated with Bloodwood and topped with a Bloodwood rim.

I really like how the bookmatched endgrain elements provide something different at each section. Kind of like controlled randomness. Nice work!

That is a stunning combination of colors. The endgrain bookmatch is fantastic. I marvel at the turnings that I see here on LJ…and I am marveling at this one.

Just keep setting the bar higher and higher. haha You are an insparation fo rme. I keep putting off doing another segment. I need to give it a try again.
