This is my second segmented turning, a small cup or vase made from maple. It’s about 5” tall. Iused some maple scraps salvaged from the frame of an old rocker/recliner. There is also a thin layer of purpleheart that I got from Lee Valley. This cup is wider at the top than at the bottom. Not what I had planned, but that’s the way it turned out once I had rounded out all of the segment points. One of my favourite turnings.

Very nice segmented piece. Sometimes the wood tells us what it wants to be.
Keep it up.

Great job. If you want, you can make the walls a lot thinner. Those segments are very strong in the horizontal glue joints so you can turn them just a thin as solid wood. Just a thought. You probably already knew this.
