Sometimes the project dictates the wood and sometimes the wood dictates the project. I had a small piece of spalted maple left over from another project and one nice piece of well figured oak. It was too small to make a set of coasters and too large to throw away…...voila, a tissue box. The top is connected with a tongue and dado joint, and floats free of the sides. The oak is stained with Old Masters dark mahogany stain and several coats of spray poly and a final coat of Brix Wax.

Looks good. It’s always great to find a use for spare pieces of wood.

Nice scrap wood project. Very usefull items to have around. The Oak took the stain very well. The grain really stands out.
Great job. Keep it up.

More proof that those little pieces are often too good to get rid of!
