At my real work, we put on a seminar, where we invited several speakers and instructors. Working for the government we are provided no funds for thank you gifts for those who helped with the project. I decided to make what turned out to be outhouse birdhouses to give as thank you gifts. I wanted to make outhouses, but I couldn’t tackle the half moons cut in all the doors. I did put the appropriate seat inside. I ended up just cutting the usual bird entrance with a perch, making it an outhouse birdhouse. We had a lot of fun and the recipients seemed to appreciate them since the door opened to see the seat. The houses are made from ceder fence pickets; the hinges are pieces of leather; and the latch is made from pieces of ceder.
