Ok added the inside
My first time turning this deep of a vessel. It is Claro Walnut from a 4×4x4 block. I lovr the smell this has when turning. This is the deepest I have ever turned so far and I think it came out nice loml kept it lol. I need a bigger lathe I think to do the things I really want to do my mini worked but it took some doing till the piece was round. I trimmed the corners to center it but still got a little off center and I learned the value of a very sharp tool.
Thanks for all comments and criticisms as well and you all have a great week.

Seer, this is a gorgeous turning. I have never had the opportunity to work with Claro walnut but it is a beautiful wood. It has a nice color and grain to it.
As far as the post goes you might have posted some additional pictures of your work showing it from different angles and a look at the inside. Don’t be shy about showcasing your work. This is a nice turning that makes me regret not having a lathe in my shop. I am sure I am missing out on a lot of fun by not being able to turn.

Seer…That is some very beautiful wood. Very nice colour.
As far as your form goes, it is just too straight for my liking. Needs more of a curve to the foot, which is a little on the big size. But, you did set out to accomplish something, and you did just that. Just My Opinion here…...
I feel for ya and the mini lathe. Great machines for the smaller stuff, but wouldn’t satisfy my likes in turning. A bigger machine can still be used for your smaller stuff, but does open a bunch of new doors…..... Time to move up?
Keep them chips flying …............

Lovely colour on this piece, and the finish is outstanding. What does the inside look like?
A suggestion, if I may…..
Keep turning until you burn out the bearings on the mini lathe. Then, when you replace it, you can always upgrade. Worked for me!! <g>
Of course, NONE of the attachments you bought for the mini lathe (chucks, faceplates, Jacobs chuck, etc) fit the new lathe, so you just GOTTA go out and buy new stuff…...<sigh> never ends, does it?

Great work. The shape does show off that stunning walnut. It sounds like you want a bigger lathe. I suggest you get one if you can, it will indeed open a lot of project doors for you.

absolutely stunning
and the photo background really adds to the beauty.
I agree – start saving up for that bigger lathe.

Nice turning Seer,
Did you use it on a finished project or was it just practice? Post more pics so we can see more of it…
Thanks,
Wisty

The foot yeah it is a little big and the reason for that is I had a catch and had to turn so much away to get what i got but it sure was fun as a learning experience and can’t wait for the next little item I am doing. I am getting less afraid of turning the walls thin so we shall see what comes out of the next one,
you never know :-p

The background is actually my extra large mouse pad and now that I have seen it I hope I can duplicate it probably just a little dumb luck I think but thanks

Fantastic turning! What kind of finish did you use?
I would like to see this in person. You need to bring it to the picnic saturday (along with some more stuff) for the brag table. I am sure everyone will be admireing it.
Great job. Keep pushing the limits!
