Ruben, this is gorgeous. The construction looks solid and the finish is beautiful. I like the maple ? cross inlays in the handles. They provide a nice contrast to the sapele. The pegged tenons add a nice detail to the cabinet.
Nice job. I enjoyed seeing this project.

Beautiful work! Did you size the shelf heights to fit a certain Bible, or just leave enough space to work with any? It doesn’t look to my bad eyes that they’re adjustable.

Scott, yes you are right it is curly maple that I had around, not that it is easy to find in SA.
Will, your bad eyes are just fine, they are not adjustable. Did not size them specifically, just used the overall size and divided.
Thanks for the nice comments, much appreciated.

Beautiful cabinet work and finish. Beautiful wood. I use the sapele in segmented bowls when I can get a piece. The pulls look great. But it has come to be a sad sad world when bibles have to be kept under lock and key!!

Ruben,
Wonderful job on the cabinet. The details are magnificent. Looks like you had some very wide boards with which to work also. I just love the cinnamony smell of sapelle when working it. Congratulations on a most excellent build.
Sincerely,

Guys, thanks for all the nice comments, I really appreciate it!
Ken, sorry to disappoint, but it is actually chipboard with a sapele veneer. They are all edged with real sapele and the door is also solid sapele.
Dennis, I agree it is a pity to have them under locked up. Signs of the times…
