I carved this original design turtle with hand tools out of butternut. The butterfly is striped maple. Both on a pine base. Finished in a blo and a beeswax mix finish. Already have a slightly different idea for the next one which will have a butterfly with more contrast to the wood and the neck of the turtle will be straining around to get more of a look at what is sitting on his back. I had planned to put this in my Etsy shop but it sold a few minutes after I showed the picture on Facebook. Lucky! Never expected that.
