All Spun Out

Project by jeffthewoodwacker posted 20 days ago 864 views 8 times favorited 13 comments Add to Favorites Watch

These are a few of the 50 spinning tops that I made for a sale that will benefit a charity our woodworking club supports. Old fashioned handled pull top with a new twist – a recycled CD! Not sure if the photos show it but a fellow wood turner used his ornamental rose engine to engrave all the CDs. I cut the handles from basswood and rounded over all the edges. The wooden part of the tops were all turned from various hardwood scraps that I had on hand. The pull handle is a dowel pin. These will be a big hit at the sale and should bring in some much needed funds.

Fantastic idea for re-useing CD’s

The colors in the CD’s as they spin should realy catch the eye.

Keep it up.

What a fantastic idea. I have 2 grandboys that will need a couple of these. Finally a good use for all these unusable CD’s laying in their toy box.

These would have been a great way to use up the AOL discs that used to fill up our inbox. I had an officemate that kept everyone and he had a stack about 1’ high.

That’s neat. When I first saw the picture in the RSS feed I thought it was a DVD rewinder for the Netflix disks… :oD
