A couple of months ago I was checking out the sales at my local Woodcraft store when I found this new item they have for sale. It’s a Garden Trowel & a Garden Fork with stainless steel construction & brass ferrels. My wife loves her gardening so it wasn’t a tough decision on wether or not to make the purchase. I had some nice grained cherry that I bought at a garage sale & used that to turn some handles. The shafts on the tools are failly sturdy, better than those hardware store garden tools, so I drew up some longer handles to give a bit more leverage for easier digging. Turning the simple shape of the handles & assembly was easy. The finish is Minwax poly satin. The wife used them &, so far, no complaints,... so far.

Nice turning and good way to score points. Keep the wife happy and life gets better.
Keep it up.

Very nice handles of convenient length. What was wrong with the original handles?

The longer handles seem to keep a person from bending over as far, making it a bit easier in the back. These tools were new kits purchased from the Woodcraft store & didn’t come with handles. Just some instructions. I’ve seen them in one of their most recent catalogs. Here’s a link to their web page.>>>>> http://www.woodcraft.com/Family/2080179/2080179.aspx?tab=information#information
