(Clearing some old project photos off the hard drive.)
Folding picture screen of oak. The basic design is from a screen that we received as a gift (Crate’n’Barrel? Pottery Barn? I forget) from my parents. I figured a nice turn would be to make them a similar screen and load it up with shots of their granddaughter. Once the better half saw the finished product, she wanted to keep it.
Pleasant surprise to find one piece of curly/figured oak in the bin at Lowe’s. What with the computerized sawmills they use, mine were likely the first set of human eyes that actually looked at the board. Had I been braver, it would have been nice to resaw and veneer the whole piece with that plank. Shouldawouldacoulda…

Very nice! Love that curly oak – I lucked out with a piece of curly maple at Lowes one time and felt like I had won the lottery.
