So far I’ve finished the bottom section of this entertainment center. It’s african mahogany. I like the ribbon grain of this wood and decided to keep the doors simple so that the grain would be the focus. The top is scribed to fit the walls. I’m learning more about finishes and am getting more comfortable/confident with staining and top coats. It’s semi-glass poly over a Minwax stain. Of course, the prep is a huge factor. I appreciated the use of my Jet/Performax 16-32 drum sander on the doors. Really sped up the sanding process.

Jim, this is going to be a wonderful addition when you get it all finished. The lower section looks good and I think you were on target with the door panels. You could have made them more elaborate but this way the focus is on the wood and not the door. And the finish looks good as well.
Even though it was necessary I would have had a hard time drilling a hole in the top after all the work that went into it. When I get to that stage I tend to drag the construction out until I have to force myself to cut into it.
