Banksia Pod Easter eggs in a spalted figured maple basket. Was trying to think of something Easter themed to do and had a couple of pods that I got as a Christmas present. It occurred to me that they might make cool eggs and I could get 2 out of one pod. Banksia pods are really cool things but man do they make a mess. Thanks for looking.

First off, the figuring in the basket is fantastic, but what are these Banksia Pod things? Never heard of them. And Ivan is right, they look like potatoes :-)

They do look like potatoes! Hmmmm. I may have repurpose them for a 4th of July potato salad display.

A banksia pod is a seed pod from Australia.

The egg shape is much more clear outside of the basket :D , but jumbled together in the basket they appear more potato shaped. Are they seed pods? Do they rattle?

Connie, seed pods is what they are. Any seeds left tend to fly out as it spins on the lathe. I stand to one side and let it purge before getting in front of it.
