When I finished copying John Dixons Super Sled, I said I was now ready to attempt a table. This is it. It’s made from 4 types of Maple. The center is Ambrosia Maple. The Inlay is Roasted (brown of course) and Hard Maple. The body and legs are also Roasted Maple. The face of the drawer is Bird’s eye Maple. Those are mini dove tails. The drawers are 3.25” tall and made from poplar. The roasted Maple is extremely dry, which made very messy and it split easy. But boy if you could see it in person. It’s worth the hassel.

one of those drop dead gorgeous pieces—balanced and complimentary wood usage. It gives me a goal to try for… mixed woods, inlay, etc. Sometimes this level of work is just plain intimidating. And to rub it in, you do really nice turnings, too.
Well done…

I love ambrosia maple in all of it’s flavors. Never heard of roasted maple Is that a stain or a wood species?
The inlay is great.

it’s actually hard maple that was roast in a kiln. It even has a roasted aroma. It really smells nice.

your table is amazing…absolutely stunning.
is there a black outline on the outside edges of the inlay? If so, what is that?

Wow, this is a gorgeous table with a nice wood combination. The different species of maple and the inlay banding give it plenty of visual interest.
