Made this from a plan in Fine Woodworking. This was definitely my most elaborate project yet, given that nearly every joint is visible; very little options for hiding.

Made the top twice, and I am still not entirely satisfied with it. I may make another yet. It is made of cherry, the tile is left over from another project. Finish is Tried and True varnish oil. Assuming I don’t make another top, I will put a few coats of Tried and True original on the top once the varnish oil has fully cured.

It looks great from here. Put it to use, and you will forget about any imperfections.

Nice! I love the classic design. I used a version of this design in my mission clock:

Looks great—I wouldn’t change a thing. Just use it and enjoy it!

I like the cherry version. I built one from the same article (walnut and the tapered legs). The original design is from Kevin Rodel. Take a look at his website and you can see his take on it and a lot of other amazing furniture.

I like the cherry look. It lightens up the look considerably.
