Hey LJs! Thanks for stopping by. I wanted to show off this giftset I did several months ago. This is a trio set of a pen, letter opener, and magnifying glass I made for my brother-in-law who was returning from Iraq. All 3 items are made of purpleheart. The blanks I used for this project were truly representative of purpleheart – deep purple color with predictable straight grain patterns. Brushed plated kits were purchased from Woodcraft.

huff – thank you. He is a Lieutenant Colonel out of Ft Stewart. 3 tours in Iraq, 1 in Kuwait, and 1 in Afghanistan. Don’t have to look to hard for a hero in this family.

Brian, Nice job on the set. I think the purpleheart goes well with the satin silver. May I ask where you got the letter opener kit?
