Wall Mirror ~ For her 11th Birthday, I made my Granddaughter Samantha a Wall Mirror for her room. It is quite heavy as the bevel mirror is 3/8 glass, so it hangs on two (top & bottom) wooden French cleats; one of which you can just see in the last photo. They are hidden when the mirror is centered over them. The appliqués are from Rockler and the challenge was to get them fully glued on without any excess glue squeeze out that would prevent a good stain application. The frame is 60” tall X 25” wide, stained with Minwax Provincial and a Tung Oil finish. The corners are connected with loose tenons in mortises that were cut with the router.
Here she is intriguing her new kitten with “who is the other kitty in the mirror”.
