Hi everyone,
The first picture is a pine bowl from reclaimed wood. Man pine is hard to cut clean
Second one is a spalted oak bowl turned green then dried in a paper bag for a month then finished turned this week-end.
Third one is a peppermill made of zebrawood. Experimenting on a classic shape.
Finish on all projects is tung oil based friction polish ()
Thanks for watching
() Friction polish recipe : 1/3 Tung oil 1/3 shellac 1/3 denatured alcohol

Pine is really difficult, but the grain is worth it. A freind gave me a peice of arborvity ( definately spelled wrong) I thought it would be garbage and almost didn’t even turn it at all, it did not turn well but sanded with ease. It is one of my favorite peices. Just cause Richard Raffan says you can’t turn it doesn’t me you can’t. Just means he Can’t. By the way he is one of my favorites as well.
Thanks for sharing

Fine is easy to turn. Lots of teraout? YES. Lots of sanding? NO. If your tools are REAL sharp, you don’t get as much tareout but you still get some(at least I did) It does sand with ease and love the way you can feel the grain when you are done.
Great job. If you got pine to look this good, I can’t wait to see what else you can do.
Keep it up.
