Love the pens! Pen turning has always looked addicting to me, but have never tried it—yet… Congrats on such beauties right away!
Have you ever thought about using antlers for your pen blanks? Don’t know how unpredictable in size or structural integrity they may be, but the finished product always looks really cool to me.
Also, odd question, but would corian (like for countertops) be a good pen turning material? Since pen blanks are small, I would imagine scraps from countertop installers would be great sources for the blanks. Just a thought…
Thanks for the pics and updates. (For now I can enjoy pen turning vicariously…) Keep us posted on how it goes!

Hi.
Those are nice pens. On the question of Corian…
From my readings, Corian is a good material for pen turning. I haven’t turned Corian yet (although I have done acrylic and “bowling ball” material) but, once our kitchen reno is complete, I hope to have a few pieces for experimrnting.
And you are right – pen turning is addictive. This past weekend, I turned ten slimline pens for a charity fundraiser, and I have ten “cigar” pens in the stream.

Great looking pens. All of them turned out very nice.
On the question of Corian,
I have seen many pens turned from corian. I think you can even get blanks from PenState industries.
Have heard it is VERY hard on tools. I used it on my router table and it cut and drilled easy enough.
Never tried a pen yet, but hope to some day.
Keep up the great work.
