Save the SEALS
Platter
The idea for this came from the seeds of the Queen palm which I thought looked like the head of a seal. Look at the area around the seal heads. I have high lighted in pencil what I perceived to be an image of a seal in the wood grain, this could possibly be the spirit of the dead seals.
Wood Jacaranda ( Jacaranda mimosifolia )
Finish Clear lacquer
Size 360mm diameter 25mm high
Maker Roger Courtney
This is my first posting hope it all works out fine
Please comment good bad and ugly are welcome

Nice plater.
Be careful what images you see in the wood grain. Jesus and Mary might get jealous (-;
I’m sure you will find this site interesting. As you will find out it is a real international site with members contributing from all over the world.

Welcome to the LumberJocks…..... You will enjoy your stay here I’m sure.
Your plater looks very good…... and the little “seal heads” add a nice contrast…. Oh and I see them too !!

Beautiful work. Welcome to a great woodworking community.
There are quite a few Jacaranda trees here in Florida. Now, I’ll not be able to pass one without thinking about milling it up.
