This project has a lot of curly maple which I have fallen in love with. It is only my second project and might have been a little too ambitious but luckily I had some help from a fellow teacher at work. Took me a long time because of my experience and a whole lot of extra wood because of all the mistakes but I am glad with the results. Now of course, my wife wants me to make the matching crib for life piece. This is straight from Wood magazine.

Beautiful changing table and I agree with the wife. A crib would make an airloom set for the family. How many more badys are you planing? :)

beautiful work… and excellent design to have both drawers and open shelves. Drawers are adequately sized to be used as the crib? uh, .... now where did I put that kid?
Fun aside, when you do the crib be conscious of safety design issues… Matched pieces would become heirloom pieces… you have a great start.

Really nice changing table and very impressive workmanship for a 2nd project. The curly maple is gorgeous. I can’t help but to compare it to our first changing table with fold-up tubular metal legs and a plastic covered mat on top with some sort of plastic hanging pockets (1967). You are definitely on the right track here with your choice of hobby and furniture!

Nice, but better hold on to the baby. With no guard rails, you are asking for a fall.

Nice job! Plenty of room for diapers, clothes, hiney cream, powder and is big enough to use for a dresser when the changing table is no longer needed.
Have fun with the bed. Be sure to post it.

Really nice. As for sawing comments about the guards and rails, he is right, but get a changing pad with sloped sides and a safety belt and you should be fine.

I too and a huge fan of curly maple. You did a great job and the piece is beautiful.
Here is my fatherly (safety-conscious) advice. I would suggest making a small shallow “box” based off the dimensions of a changing pad. Changing pads and covers are common and a plethora can be found on Amazon. You can add cork or no slip rubber feet to the bottom of the box to remove when baby isn’t so baby anymore. Then your baby changing dresser just becomes a beautiful dresser.
This will not only protect your baby from a fall, it’ll protect your gorgeous top from… well anything that comes out of a baby at warp-speed.
Excellent job. Keep up the work. You have an excellent start you can be proud of.
