I had to show off this chunk of black walnut burl I just cut. It is 28×14.5×5. It is already sold for $60.00 a BF. Prettiest I have seen. It is going for high end guitars.

Very beautiful wood. Looks almost like smoke or clouds rolling through it. Don’t know the size, but the price seems reasonable for such a showy piece.
I recently paid almost $70 for a hunk of Cocobolo which measures about 4”X5”X6”. The money went to finance the high standard of living here in Norway. The government got about $18 of that. Not complaining though. I’m sure the government will use my money much wiser than I ever could. Right?

Greg that is a really beautiful piece of wood. It looks like a Van Gogh painting ready to hang on the wall. When I first saw the thumbnail I thought it was a painting. To bad it is sold I would have giving you $60 for it, lol. Very nice.
By the way how did you guiter stands go over and how much did you end up pricing them at?

Greg, is that a naturally occurring color or did you add sometime to make the grain pop? I like the way that piece of wood jumped off the page at me. Thanks for a great post.

I have just run water over it. The color is all natural. The burl is right now at 22% so it has a ways to go before someone can us it.
