This is my new brass hammer. The handle is jatoba with a polyurethane finish. Im going to be making 5 or 6 of these today to sell on The brass was expensive but i got some 1” X 18” long jatoba and canary wood dowels for $3.00 a piece. I took the dowel and mounted it on the lathe to downsize the end to 3/4” to fit the hole i drilled in the brass round. After glueing the handle in with epoxy i drilled a 3/16” hole through the side of the brass. I drilled deep enough to go through the wood and then through the brass on the other side but i did not drill through. I then epoxied a 3/16” brass round in the hole and sanded flush to keep the handle in place forever. I doubt the brass pin shows up in the pictures, it blended in so good its practically invisible. That would be a very nice hammer.
