Attention to grain orientation is good.. a little glue slip during glue up on 2 and 3 but over all well done.
My favourites are 1 and 4.
Thanks for posting.

I agree #1 and #4 are great. How was the zebra wood to work with? Is it hard enough to be used as a cutting board daily? Never thought of using it, but I really like it!

Kram, these are nice boards and you chose a nice set of complimentary woods. I especially like the purpleheart and maple as well as the cherry and maple boards.

Very nice! I now feel like hiding the two cutting boards I made.

Very nice.
I also like #1 and #4. I think the reason is that the same type of wood never touches “corner to corner”, which magnifies any misalignment.

Well done,
Steve

Thanks everyone. The funny thing about #1 and #4 is that they were actually a mistake. I forgot to alternate the boards in the initial glue-up. Degoose I think the problem with 2 and 3 was more inaccurate cuts and not so much glue slip. These boards were all made before i bought my Steel City Table saw. Up until then I was getting by with my portable Craftsman jobsite saw. It was a decent saw for what I originally bought it for but not for getting accurate repeat cuts, as the fence was a bit sloppy.

I’ve been tempted to use Zebrawood in the past , but I didn’t feel that it was hard enough for a cutting board. Your board looks fantastic though ! Thanks for posting your projects .

Really nice boards. I too, am a fan of #1 and #4.

I guess I’ll have to break down and complete the “Tenderfoot” requirement of LJs…......i.e make a cutting board!!

Larry: You must have eyes like a Hawk…..I don’t see any slip ups…....but I do have old eyes.

Never heard of/seen Zebrawood….where is it indigenous to?

-- Doug, New Mexico.......the only stupid question is one that is never asked!........don't fix it, if it ain't broke!

Zebrawood is imported from Central Arica. It is a heavy and hard wood. It’s also considered a threatened species.

I like the last one the best. Never tried Jatoba before. Looks like I should give it a try.

They all look great, but I too like 1 & 4 the best. Isn’t it great to make a mistake (I mean design change!) once in a while. Great Job!
