I guess that is necessary for thin-milled pieces. For 3/4” or greater thickness I just sticker it. This ensures that both top and bottom surfaces get the same exposure to the ambient air. I have pieces that have sat there for a couple of weeks with no issues, although I advise milling the wood as close as possible to the time you use it.
