I built both of these benches from old beds I got at goodwill, I gave them both to my sons. Getting ready to start another one from a Jenny Linn. I’m learning as I go…Made a lot of mistakes….

Those look sharp. The black one is my favorite. I made one myself a little while back, but I haven’t added the seat cushion yet. Still trying to decide on the fabric. Did you make the cushions also? I want to make some more, but I’d prefer to see how others are constructing theirs first (if my way is wrong, I don’t want to repeat it). For example, did you use brackets to attach the sides to the headboard posts? I just glued and screwed from the backside of the posts on mine. To be honest, I don’t feel 100% on that. Just curious.
Again, those look great!

I had the seats made at a local shop, to attach the sides to the headboard i predrilled and used big lag bolts throught the headboard into the side rails, I see old headboards all the time sitting on the side of the road for the trash, everytime i slow down to look my wife gets mad…i usually bring stuff in when she is gone, but storage is a problem for me.. I have stuff hidden up in the rafters in my shop, just waiting for a use for them…I think all of you understand….Jim

Neat use of reclaimed furniture. I would have never thought of that without your post. Thanks. Now I can’t wait for the next auction with a cheap bed.
